About Bellefonte Country Club
Bellefonte Country Club is widely recognized as one of the premier golf country clubs in Eastern Kentucky. Originally designed by Willie Park Jr. in 1921, the layout is narrow and can be a bit challenging.
Willie Park Jr. won the British Open twice and his father was a four-time winner of the British Open. Even though Willie Park Jr. won several golf tournaments during his career, his real love was golf club design and golf course design. Willie Park Jr. was noted as our country's "First Great Architect."
In 2006 Bellefonte Country Club hired golf course architect, Arthur Schaupeter, to develop a course master plan. Phase one of this master plan was completed in the Spring of 2006 with the installation of new rectangular bent grass tee boxes and a complete renovation of all bunkers. This renovation has made Bellefonte Country Club a challenging test that we are sure would meet Mr. Park’s approval.
In June of 2008 Bellefonte Country Club hosted the AJGA Bluegrass Junior Invitational for the 25th consecutive year. The tournament is the longest running AJGA event and attracts the top junior talent around the country. The juniors receive a true test of golf when participating in the event at Bellefonte Country Club.
Our experienced golf pros are committed to offering each member and guest who play the Bellefonte Country Club course an excellent golfing experience.
