About Lethbridge Country Club
Lethbridge Country Club Profile
The Lethbridge Country Club is the Lethbridge, Alberta area's only private golf club. Nestled in the Oldman River valley just five minutes from downtown Lethbridge, the golf course is set in a quiet serene setting void of traffic noises or condos.
The Lethbridge Country Club was informally organized in 1911 when a group of gentlemen had been playing golf on a crude 9 hole golf course which was located near the current Lethbridge jail just east of Lethbridge. In 1912, the Alberta Golf Association was formed with the Lethbridge CC being one of five charter members - others included Calgary G & CC, St. Andrews GC of Calgary, Fort MacLeod GC and Edmonton CC. In March of 1913, the Lethbridge Country Club was officially incorporated as a club.
Early records are vague as to whether famed golf course designers Stanley Thompson or Tom Bendalow, or both, had a hand in designing the original nine hole layout in the river bottom. A second nine designed by American Bill Robinson was opened in 1983.
The golf experience is challenging, enjoyable and unparalleled in Southern Alberta.
