While 1999 Golf World Architect of the Year, Brian Silva, has designed golf courses throughout the country, he chose Black Creek Club to be his first original project in the Southeast.
Mr. Silva thoughtfully designed Black Creek’s multiple tee placements. In doing so, he created a golfing experience that challenges the low-handicapper while ensuring an enjoyable time for players at every level of experience.
With Black Creek (after which the club was named) providing the strategic foundation for wonderful finishing holes on both the front and back nines, the Club resides on a site rich in variety. Black Creek Club is nothing less than a golf architect's dream come true! In those few instances in which the site did not fully cooperate, another of golf's revered architects, Charles Blair Macdonald, set the stage when he announced, "No expense will be spared to create the proper natural settings for golf."
The proficiency of these experts living and dead has culminated in the unique variety of golf holes at Black Creek Club. The design of Black Creek Club clearly reveals the influence of Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor upon Brian Silva. As both architects repeated their classic golf holes: Redan, Cape, Short, and Punch-Bowl from course to course, Black Creek similarly draws upon contemporary adaptations of these and other classic golf holes. And Silva’s ingenious and beautiful new creations pay further homage to the lessons gleaned from his study of the work of architects from golf’s "Golden Age of Architecture."
With five sets of markers that start at just over 5,000 yards and stretching to the championship length of over 7,000 yards, Black Creek Club offers golf at its best to players of all abilities.
Designed in the tradition of great Macdonald/Raynor courses (The National Golf Links of America, Yeaman’s Hall, The Chicago Golf Club and Lookout Mountain, among others) Black Creek Club combines the best of vintage design with all that contemporary golf has to offer. The Black Creek Club golf course design, coupled with stringent demands in maintenance and service levels, create a golfing experience of the highest caliber, one that combines the strategy and beauty of the classic courses of the past with today’s modern game.
