Jefferson Lakeside Country Club's golf course is the most naturally beautiful golf course in the Richmond area. The course plays through the woods with no houses on the golf course. Jefferson Lakeside is a great club to get away and enjoy nature just minutes from the city.
Much of the course's natural beauty can be attributed to the unaltered terrain and a variety of 56 types of trees. Many of these trees were personally selected and imported from Europe by the original property owner, Lewis Ginter.
Adding to the historic beauty of the course are the remnants of stone pits and cages that once housed a variety of animals at the turn of the century, when Mr. Ginter opened the park as a zoo and picnic area for the community.
In the summer, Lakeside is the coolest course in town because most of the playing area is shaded by majestic trees. Because of Lakeside's limited membership, the course is available for prime tee times for both men and women.
A lake and numerous creeks add to the course's charm and challenge. Unique to Lakeside's course is the ability to play it even after the most torrential rains. This is due to the natural drainage over the entire course.
